First of all DON’T PANIC, we all have a quiet day, week, or period of time where we don’t have as many customers as we would like, a load of our regulars are on holiday, or we just feel like we should be busier.
Use this time to your ADVANTAGE and don’t waste time stressing yourself out thinking you’ll never be busy again.
Here’s 7 things you could be doing:
CATCH UP WITH ADMIN
Something we put off when we’re busy because the last thing we want to do is admin or paperwork when we’ve had a busy day. Trust me I feel your pain! So getting it all up to date when you have the time will make you feel super productive.
TWEAK YOUR WEBSITE/SOCIAL MEDIA
This is the perfect time to look over your Social Media accounts and your Website to make sure everything is up to date, all your links works, everything is looking good and maybe change things up. You could change some photos and/or wording to freshen it up a bit.
COME UP WITH SOME IDEAS FOR POSTS
I KNOW you all stress and get overwhelmed with what to post on your social media accounts so use this time to brainstorm and come up with some fresh ideas. You could plan to do a photo competition or write some short posts about your services and background so that you can upload at a later date. Or search those millions of photos you have on your phone of other people’s dogs for some cute ones that you could upload.
Bonus Tip – Don’t forget that you can reuse photos, they don’t all have to be uploaded the day that you take them.
CATCH UP WITH CURRENT CUSTOMERS
We should try to do this even when we are busy but it’s a great time to ensure we are connecting with our current customers. After all they are already willing to pay you so you need to stay connected with them, making sure they are happy and providing an excellent service for them. We do not want to be losing custom because they feel neglected or like you are constantly looking for new customers.
LOOK BACK OVER LAST MONTH
It’s easy to feel down and unmotivated during a quiet spell but if you look back at the last month you will probably see that you’ve actually come a long way and achieved a lot in that time, the stats may surprise you! For a free template to help you do this CLICK HERE
ORGANISE & CLEAN YOUR SPACE
This always feels like a chore to me but when I have the time to organise and tidy my desk, car and dog walking equipment I always feel like an absolute BOSS. Like I am totally on top of this sh*t! It can have you feeling so ready to go when things pick up again.
ASK YOURSELF WHY YOU’RE NOT BUSY
We are ALL going to have those times where coincidentally a load of our regulars are away at the same time or move areas or simply family circumstances change and our services are not needed anymore. BUT if the quiet period is dragging on and on and you find you are just not taking on new customers or you’re struggling financially, then maybe you need to look more closely at the reasons why.
